Junior Academy of Entrepreneurship
at Saddleback College

High School Program

This high school program is focused on four years of engagement in the Saddleback College Entrepreneurship community, which serves high school students in three key ways:
  1. Strengthen their college applications with completed, transferable college courses.
  2. Get a jump start on launching a real-world business endeavor at a young age.
  3. Continue to earn an associate's degree in Entrepreneurship from Saddleback College.

During their involvement in the Junior Academy of Entrepreneurship, high school students can:
  • Participate in events, workshops, boot camps, speakers' series and other valuable events hosted by the Entrepreneurship and innovation Learning Center at Saddleback.
  • Dual-enroll in college-level courses while still in high school.
  • Earn an Occupational Skills Award (low-credit certificate) or a full certificate before they even graduate high school.

How Do I earn an OSA or Certificate in Entrepreneurship?

Completion of the Entrepreneurship Certificate demonstrates achievement, may support job applications, and importantly, provides students with critical knowledge and tools for planning and starting a new business. The program provides valuable preparation in proven business practices and with business ownership issues, such as market focus, measurements of success, and developing a clear and useful business plan.

The Entrepreneurship Certificate is also useful for members of the community who are planning or starting a new business. Some of these students might prefer to complete the shorter Entrepreneurship Occupational Skills Award. Many of the courses in the program are designed with the working business professional or busy high school student in mind.
